As a Family Nurse Practitioner, our provider can serve as a specialist, or your consultant to facilitate optimal care and communication with your existing primary care provider, to determine the cause of your condition(s) and identify effective options. My initial medical training is based upon conventional medicine, and expanded over the years to deepen knowledge, skills and the personalization of medicine through a systems based approach to diagnosis and treatment. The Functional Medicine model was chosen as it provides a foundation with which practitioners can determine the root cause of illness. From this approach, we have developed five unique programs for our clients - and chosen integrative medicine services that can be included into your plan of care to support your process. The concept of “functional medicine” was developed from the theory that medical care is an act of integration, not separation. From that integration we can discover the cause of illness, and treat the origin of disease and its effect on the whole body. Instead of simply addressing different symptoms across separate areas, functional medicine identifies the issues that, when combined, affect the functioning of each system of your whole body.
